Sending and Receiving Subtle or Spiritual Messages

I am delving into more study about subtle energy and with this quest I have been taking some courses in Qigong. Qigong is the study of Qi, or life force energy, and Gong, which means cultivation and expertise. So Qigong is the cultivation of life force energy, which fits well into my desire to learn more about subtle and spiritual energy.

During one of the first Qigong classes I took, we began the class by feeling the energy field around a fellow student. This was to help us learn to tune into another persons energy. We then built on that foundation and started to become more aware of the different feelings with the different energy layers around the human body.

In one of the following classes, we practiced sending a color of energy to a fellow student. This was the sender. The other student became the receiver and would report back and state the color being received. At first it felt like we were guessing, but then we put more effort into focusing on the sending or receiving of the message. The student sending the energy would think of a color, focus on that color, and then send the color to the fellow student by holding out his/her outstretched hand. Her/his mind would direct that focused thought of color out of her/his hand toward their fellow student. The receiving student would then report the color seen in her/his mind.

We repeated this practice session several times and would change partners. Each of us was a receiver or a sender with everyone in the class. Eventually we improved our ability to tune in, focus, and interpret the color message.

During one of these exercises with a fellow student, I had my eyes closed and reported the color she was sending. I said, "is it pink?"

The sender of this color said “YES!”

I then told her, “You must have on a lot of lotion or perfume on your hands because I could smell an overwhelming scent of roses when you held your hand up.”

She remarked, “I don’t have on any lotion or perfume. I actually was sending you PINK ROSES.”

The exercise reminded me of an event I had many years ago. During a meditation event with my partner/husband, his soul “left” for a few minutes and as I waited and observed, I wondered what was happening. He had his eyes closed and he was totally relaxed as if he was in a deep state of meditation.

After a few minutes, he opened his eyes and was now “back.”

I asked him how his experience was. As he spoke I could smell chocolate on his breath. This seemed very curious because I had been with him all day and we were not around chocolate, but I could now clearly smell chocolate on his breath. I told him I was smelling chocolate, and then kissed him and also tasted the chocolate.

He then reported what he remembered during this meditation. “I was in Havel’s lovely home and I saw a dish of chocolates sitting on a table so naturally ate one!”

Now that he was back from this meditative experience, he still had the taste of those chocolates in his mouth and me, as an outside observer, could smell and even taste the chocolate, too.

My first experience of experiencing the sense of smell during a nonphysical activity was the smell of chocolate coming through during a meditation. This next experience of smelling roses during an exercise of sending nonphysical messages with a focused thought, validated how nonphysical activities can result in a physical experience.

We really are really rather incredible receivers of different types of energy. Spiritual and subtle messages are usually part of the nonphysical world, but they are received by physical beings and often the message includes a physical transformation.

We usually receive spiritual and/or subtle messages via our thoughts, impressions, and feelings. These are the usual and normal way to receive spiritual messages and the most frequent way we receive messages. But we can also receive message via our five senses, too.

We can even learn to improve our ability to receive these subtle and/or spiritual messages by expanding our message palate and sensitivity. It is actually pretty incredible and rather amazing.
