So what can help us make that connection so we can receive the spiritual guidance and messages we desire? Receiving spiritual communication often comes from
- Meditation
- Pondering
- Dreams
- Visitations/Attestations
- Telepathy
- Channeling
- Automatic Writing
But how does a person set up their personal communication process so they can start receiving their own messages? Where do they begin?
Probably the best place to start is using the communication method of meditation. Meditation is a process that helps you get in a position where you can tune into receiving these messages.
But what type of meditation should a person use? The type of meditation is not necessarily what is important, but what is important is that a person make himself available to receive the messages.
So how does a person do that? How can he/she get in a position to receive spiritual messages?
This is what I would suggest.
- Set aside a regular schedule for meditation. (For me, I make it daily and it usually is at 6:00 – 6:30 am each day).
- Determine the goal of the meditation, such as “I want to receive spiritual input or guidance during my meditation” or “I want to be able to have a conversation during this time” or “I want to use this time to understand a question I may have”.
- At the conclusion of the meditation, assess what transpired.
REGULAR SCHEDULE
Setting up a regular schedule makes sure you have a time set aside in your life dedicated to receiving input and guidance. This lets all of those who work with you from the spiritual realm know this is when they can get information to you.
In addition to setting aside time to receive guidance, having a regular schedule helps train your mind, body, and spirit for spiritual communication. Just like regular exercise, having a set schedule for spiritual communication improve the process of receiving messages.
INTENTION
Setting up the goal of your meditation time clarifies the intention of what you want and what you expect. Clarifying your desire or what you expect from your meditation helps align your goals and desires to what your Spiritual Guides and Higher Self may provide to you; not always, but if it is not aligned, they will most likely let you know a change in your goal is needed.
Here is one way that may help you set up your intended desire for a meditation.
- Before you come to your meditation, think of a question you desire an answer to. Write down your single question. Writing down your question helps clarify your thoughts.
- Begin your meditation in your usual manner.
- When you reach the point in your meditation when you have completed all of the steps in your meditation, or you feel that complete relaxation or expansion, silently ask your question in your mind.
- Allow the freedom of your thoughts to flow freely.
- Stay in the meditation until you feel you have an answer or you feel you need to conclude the meditation.
- if you did not feel you received an answer, repeat the process at your next meditation session.
Part of the process to receive messages is to train your mind, body, and soul, to get into a mode of receiving input. By repeating the meditation process of asking a specific and direct question and then waiting to receive the answer, you are placing yourself in a position to receive input.
ASSESS THE MEDITATION
At the conclusion of your meditation, assess what worked and what didn’t. Did you get any impressions or have any feelings during the meditation? If nothing happened, that is OK, too. You are training yourself to receive input and it usually takes practice, so try again tomorrow.
If you did have some impressions, what were they? What did you feel and when? You may want to record what transpired so you won’t forget and/or want to come back to it later.
Part of the process is learning to trust yourself and trust your impressions. Make the assumption what you are feeling or what you thought you heard was a real message. Make that assumption and go with it. Try it out and see what happens.
TYPE OF MEDITATION
Is there a certain type of meditation that works best for this spiritual communication?
For me, I am still using the “Basic Meditation” I was originally taught. At times I may do a standing meditation rather than a sitting meditation because it takes me outside of my comfort zone and stirs things up a bit. At other times, I may engage first in a Qigong energy exercise before doing a meditation. This increases my Qi energy for the meditation and often gives me better clarity because it seems to energize the connection.
Sometimes I do automatic writing as part of my meditation process. After I feel the expansion or change within me, I'll grab my laptop and sit it on my lap and type away with whatever comes in my mind. I do this when I need more specific and detailed instructions or when I have a new spiritual teacher who has a different "vibration" than what I am use to.
But for about 80% of the time, I still use the basic meditation. Why? Probably because it is what I'm used to. It's like having a cell phone that still works for me and not feeling like I need to replace it.
CONCLUSION
Learning to receive and interpret spiritual messages is something all of us have access to and can develop. This ability and gift is within each of us.
Setting up a routine meditation schedule can help a person become consistent in having time set aside to receive and interpret these spiritual messages. Having a set time and routine increases the probability for spiritual communication.
The more a person practices receiving messages, trusting those messages, and acting on the messages, the more likely this communication process will continue to flow as well as increase. With more and more practice, this method of receiving spiritual guidance and information can expand to the point where messages and communication becomes instantaneous. When this happens, it is like moving from a dial-up Internet connection to high speed cable Internet connection. And yes, this is possible for you, too.
