For the last year I have been learning about Qi-gong, which is the study and practice of using and directly subtle energy called Qi (chee). The practice of directing Qi can be used for defensive purposes (martial arts), or for spiritual purposes, or for medical purposes. The classes I have been taking have focused on using Qi for medical purposes, but as I have noticed, sometimes you can't just limit its affect to just healing. Often Qi will slip over to the spiritual side of the program. After all, energy is energy and it can't always be nicely contained in a box or category.
As part of my medical training classes, we get to practice on volunteers. One of my 23 year old volunteers has come to me for several treatments because her treatments are rather special and unique. Her health is not really a problem, but what we are experiencing is that by moving Qi in her body, she is having some remarkable spiritual experiences. In fact, during her very first treatment I could sense her Spiritual Guide in the room. Not only was her Spiritual Guide present, but it also felt as if there were thousands of people observing us. I described this to her like as if she was one of the Beatles when they first came to America…it felt that this was one of those very significant moments in time, and it was happening during her Qi-gong treatment.
During her Qi-gong treatment, her Spiritual Guide was VERY active in assisting me and guiding me on what I was supposed to do. "Place your hands this way" I would hear in my mind and see an image of how my hands were supposed to be placed. "Now, move to this part of her body and do this".
But this latest treatment was the most unique Qi-gong treatment I had ever given. Her treatments were very specific and just for her.
During her most recent Qi-gong treatment, she seemed to be “gone”. I was told she was being taught by her Spiritual Guide and Teacher and was on the astral plane. She was using her Qi-gong treatment as an astral travel experience, in part because she felt safe here and had attempted astral travel in the past and had stopped due to fear. She knew she would be able to spiritually leave her body to visit the astral and be trained by her Guide while her body was safely in my care.
In addition, I was told she would not immediately recall the travel experience when she returned because of that "memory barrier" between the astral and the physical, but she would start to pull out clips of information from this travel experience over time.
After her treatment I asked her how she was and if she felt like she had been "gone".
"No. I felt like I was in a very deep, deep meditative state," she said.
I told her what my impressions had been and what I had been told. She had no memory of traveling. She also had no memory of any instructions she had been given, nor even being with a Guide. She did say she would pay attention to what happened over the coming weeks to see if any memory comes to her.
Needless to say, we both want to continue to explore this new type of Qi-gong spiritual training and see where it leads. Qi-gong seems to be another tool that can work for some people to open spiritual development doors.
